Think of your super like a trust fund that your parents left you when you reach a certain age. Only, it’s not your parents who left it to you – it’s you who left it to you.
From every $1,000 you earn, $100 or more is going to this future fund. In a 40-hour work week, that’s kind of like working 36 hours for yourself now, and 4 hours for your future.
If you’re not able to generate enough wealth to retire comfortably, you’re going to want your super to pull its weight and be there for you in case the Age Pension doesn’t cut it (or doesn’t exist anymore).

Answer me this question as honestly as you can: If you were to die, or get sick / injured and this resulted in you being unable to work for several months (or years), how would you or your loved ones get by?
Having an ‘Estate Plan’ is about so much more than just having a will when you die (which, in itself, is a massive thing to ensure you get right).
What happens if you become incapacitated and need someone to act on your behalf? What happens with the kids if something happens to you and your partner? What happens to your super? Are the people who step in and act on your behalf going to know how to manage all of your affairs?
